All About Japan — Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow

 Japan is a country that seems to have mastered the art of bringing the past and the future together. It is a land where ancient temples stand peacefully beside towering skyscrapers, where centuries-old traditions continue to flourish while bullet trains speed across the country at breathtaking speeds. For a traveller, Japan is not simply a destination—it is an experience that stays in the heart.

Japan is an island nation in East Asia, made up of thousands of islands, with four major islands—Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. Its capital, Tokyo, is one of the world's great cities: enormous, energetic and brilliantly modern, yet filled with quiet shrines, beautiful gardens and traditional neighbourhoods.

One of Japan's greatest attractions is its natural beauty. Mount Fuji, Japan's iconic snow-capped volcano, has inspired artists and poets for centuries. During spring, the country becomes a sea of delicate cherry blossoms, or sakura. People gather under the flowering trees for hanami, enjoying food, friendship and the fleeting beauty of nature. Autumn brings another spectacular transformation, as forests turn brilliant shades of red, orange and gold.

But Japan's charm goes far beyond scenery. Japanese culture is deeply rooted in respect, discipline and hospitality. The graceful traditions of the tea ceremony, kimono, calligraphy, flower arranging and martial arts remain an important part of Japanese life. At the same time, Japan is famous for technology, robotics, automobiles, electronics and its remarkably efficient transport system.

Japanese food is another reason to fall in love with the country. Sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura and many regional specialities offer travellers an unforgettable culinary journey. Even a simple meal in Japan can become a memorable experience because of the care given to preparation and presentation.

For history lovers, Japan offers magnificent castles, Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and historic cities such as Kyoto and Nara. Kyoto, once the imperial capital, is particularly enchanting, with its wooden houses, peaceful gardens, golden temples and traditional streets.

What impressed me most about Japan is the harmony between its old and new worlds. A person can spend the morning visiting an ancient temple, travel on a futuristic bullet train in the afternoon and watch the dazzling lights of a modern city at night.

Japan teaches a beautiful lesson: progress does not necessarily mean abandoning tradition. The two can live side by side, each enriching the other.

For anyone who loves travel, photography, history, culture and discovery, Japan offers something unforgettable. It is a country to see with the eyes—but even more importantly, a country to experience with the heart.

My Traveling Experience in Japan

 Bacon said,'Reading maketh a man and writing perfects him'.I say, 'Traveling is fun and recreation,it relaxes human being'.

I love travelling and have trotted a quarter of the world.Thank God for giving me the courage,strength, wealth and good health. My first  trip to Japan  was memorable.I shared an apartment with my son in Tokyo to spent a whole month exploring Tokyo and the vicinity.In the photograph is my son's landlady Yokawa. Neither she speaks English nor I spoke Japanese.On the second day of my arrival in Tokyo,she came up to my apartment and said something to me,although it was jargon gestures that she made enlighten me that she was asking me whether I want something then she said "sakuna"again she said "sakuna" Ididn't know what sakuna is.Then she held me by hand and took me down to her fridge and showed me some fish.Then I realised what she meant was.She had asked me whether I eat fish.I felt the necessity of knowing a language before travelling to a country is indispensible.The very next day I walked into a neighbouring booshop and bought some survival Japanese language books and CDS.I whishpered to myself'"Necessacity is the mother of invention".I was happy that I prepared some vocabulary to accept Yokawa's invitation for a day out.My impression about Japanese people and the country itself is high esteem.They are very friendly,helpful and well organized.Yokawa accompanied me to Akibara.we visited the temples and the traditional Japanese market.On my way I picked up some souvenires,when I opened my wallet to pay for them she would'nt let me pay ..She paid for all my purchasing.I wonder, whether its their custom.I felt embarassed,and stopped further buying.She invited me to one of the best seafood restaurant for lunch and ordered all types of seafood that was available on that day.I did really enjoy the day with her it was a memorable day.I realised language is not that important to enjoy friendship, hospitality and kindness of a friend it's the large heart and generosity that plays main role. Yokawa is posing a photograph with me you can see my generous Japanese friend at dining with me in the covering photo.The Kimono that I'm wearing in the photo is a gift from my dear friend Yokawa .I wish she could know English to read my story.Let me share some of the Japanese words & expressionsI can still remember with interested readers."ohayo gozaimasu"(Good morning)"Oyasumi nasai" (Good night)"gomen nasai"(excuse me)'hajimemashi(pleased to meet you)"do itashimashite" (you're welcome)"shikata ga nai"(I'm sorry) "omedeto gozaimasu domo"(Congratulations)"arigato"(Thank you) koko(where)"watashi wa Jariya desu"(I'm Jariya)"Anata no namae wa?(What's your name)"sayonara" bye..bye...

Traveling is one of the most enriching activities in our lives.I love traveling.It was one of my longstanding childhood interests which originated in me as a child of nine years,reading a book about 'the seven wonders of the world' infuenced me and I decided to study hard to get a degree to find a job to earn and to travel.Glory to God.I am fortunate enough to to travel to three continents of the globe.Indeed,traveling gains unique experience and cherishes wonderful memories of seeing new places meeting with new people,learning about different cultures and traditions.In addition,it enhances intellectual power and refreshes the mind.people travel for multi purposes.Traveling includes the values of entertainment as well as escapism.Some travel to escape from harsh winter or scorching heat.In other words,its a get away from humdrum and boredom of daily life for a change.It is worth traveling if one can afford to.A package tour is ideal and economical.

When I visited Japan for the first time,  my knowledge of  Japanese language was zero ,when I left Japan after a month I was delighted to learn the  language for survival. My second trip was pleasurable as I was able to manage on my own with acquisition of the  language.

What can the world, learn? from Japanese, who are patiently and ably bearing the brunt of nature's fury, due to their precarious location on the ring of fire (Volcano, Fault Lines, Tectonic Plate Edge)
1. THE CALM Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.
2.THE DIGNITY Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
 3. THE ABILITY The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didnt fall.
 4. THE GRACE People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something. 5. THE ORDER No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
6. THE SACRIFICE Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
 7. THE TENDERNESS Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.
8. THE TRAINING The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.

 9. THE MEDIA They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage. 10.THE CONSCIENCE When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly. ------- Can we share these virtues with our Children, Family and Friends in the respective positions/ professions??
